Established in Singapore since 1973 to support the expansion of aerospace-related activities in Asia Pacific, Thales today has built a strong industrial capability in avionics production and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) to support the aerospace industry and regional airlines from Singapore including Singapore Airlines, Air Asia and Garuda Indonesia.

  • Accredited avionics industrial production and MRO centre for Airbus and Boeing aircraft, with avionics equipment and in-flight entertainment (IFE) supplied to major airlines in the region
  • Global service centre for airlines, providing full suite of services for all avionics and IFE products and electrical systems
  • Provides Aircraft On Ground services and avionics production services for both commercial and military aerospace
  • Manufactures key systems for Airbus A320, A330, A350 families AND Boeing B787 fleets including flight control computers, displays and electrical systems
  • Provides maintenance services and parts distribution to standard exchanges
  • Provides access to spare pools, pre-owned equipment trading and full component availability packages

To help airlines and aircraft manufacturers better position themselves for recovery and strengthen their future-readiness, Thales in Singapore has two key avionics units servicing customers across Asia.

Aviation Global Services (AGS):Adopting a global services approach that is highly focused on the success of customers, the Thales AGS team provides a one-stop service for all airline customers – from worldwide maintenance and technical support, to training, parts trading and line maintenance including digital tools and assets amongst many others. This not only simplifies the lives of airlines but also enables them to benefit from Thales’ more innovative solutions.

Avionics Asia-Pacific Industrial Centre (AAIC): Recognising the importance of delivering quality products and services on time and at the right price, the Thales AAIC houses the region’s production, repair, industrial and engineering teams under one roof – ensuring collaboration and promoting the sharing of best practices across all functions to better meet customers’ needs in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Annually, over 40,000 pieces of equipment are repaired locally, making Singapore the Group’s largest centre for avionics and maintenance and repair services worldwide. Within the Thales AAIC, the team oversees:

  • Production process from sub-assemblies’ integration to Finished Goods products, leading to Airworthiness approval (e.g. EASA and FAA approval)
  • Rigorous testing of products including HALT and HASS testing, Endurance Ageing test, and Full Functional Systems Electrical test
